On Saturday, September 13th, 2025, the Landmark Event Centre in Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos came alive as thousands of fans gathered for Lagos Comic Con — Africa’s biggest pop culture and gaming convention. Now in its 13th year, the event brought together gamers, comic lovers, cosplayers, creators, and industry leaders under one roof to celebrate the best of African creativity alongside global trends.
For Maliyo Games, this year’s Comic Con was more than an exhibition — it was a chance to showcase Safari City, connect with fans face-to-face, and continue building momentum for Africa’s place in the global gaming conversation. We were also the official Game Zone sponsor.
Safari City Steals the Spotlight
At the heart of our presence was Safari City, our flagship mobile game that captures the energy, colour, and vibrancy of everyday African life. The Maliyo booth quickly became one of the busiest stops in the Game Zone, buzzing with players eager to explore its interactive streets and relatable characters.
From young first-timers trying the game for the very first time to seasoned players curious about new updates, the excitement around Safari City reinforced what we already believe: African stories belong at the centre of global gaming.
A Stage for African Game Developers
Maliyo Games was also featured on the official Comic Con programme, with our Lead Developer, Michael Fagbemi, scheduled to speak on the panel:

Community Fun: Spin the Wheel, Surveys & a Raffle Winner
We wanted our booth to be more than a showcase — it was a space for fun, connection, and prizes. Visitors who played Safari City got the chance to Spin the Wheel, walking away with giveaways ranging from branded items to exclusive goodies.
We also tied our ongoing African Esports Survey into the event by giving participants the chance to enter a special raffle. The highlight of the day was presenting a brand-new smartphone to the lucky raffle winner 🎉 — a moment that drew cheers, smiles, and plenty of camera flashes.
