Maliyo Games is Heading to gamescom

Maliyo Games is heading to gamescom in Cologne from 26-30 August 2026, and we are going with a clear purpose: to connect with the global games industry, share what we are building, and open up stronger conversations around African games, African creativity, and the future of mobile-first play.

For us, gamescom is more than another event on the calendar. It is one of the biggest gathering points in gaming, bringing together studios, publishers, investors, creators, press, platforms and players from across the world. It is the kind of room where ideas travel quickly, partnerships begin naturally, and the future of the industry feels close enough to touch.

Why gamescom matters to Maliyo

Maliyo will be there because African games deserve to be part of that future in a visible and serious way. Africa has players, stories, talent, humour, culture, imagination and communities that are already shaping how people play. What the industry needs now is more space for those voices, more support for the studios building from here, and more conversations that treat African creativity as part of the main story, not a side note.

At gamescom, we will be talking about our games, our original IP, our approach to mobile-first audiences, and the work we are doing across talent development, community and ecosystem building. Maliyo has always believed that games can be simple to pick up while still carrying identity, place, style, rhythm and meaning. That belief sits at the centre of how we build.

The conversations we want to have

We are coming to gamescom to meet the right people. Publishers who understand the potential of African games. Investors who care about long-term creative infrastructure. Partners who want to work across games, culture, education and community. Press, creators and collaborators who are curious about what African gaming audiences are playing, what they want next, and how the continent’s creative energy can travel further.

The conversations we are looking forward to cover our games, African storytelling, mobile-first play, GameUp Academy, MaliyoCON, publishing, distribution, partnerships and the next generation of game talent. But we are also open to the unexpected conversations, the quick introductions that turn into something useful, and the shared ideas that only happen when people are in the same place.

This is not just a trip to Cologne, It is a chance to stand inside one of the biggest rooms in gaming and carry our own voice into it. A voice shaped by African cities, players, stories, fashion, humour, markets, music, community and imagination. A voice that says we are building, we are learning, and we are ready for deeper global conversations.
